October 17 @ 11:00 am 1:00 pm

Join Potomac Riverkeeper Network for a MEGA trash bash and help divert plastic pollution from the river around Columbia Island Marina/LBJ Grove!

Who?

PRKN is partnering with Potomac Conservancy, Friends of Mount Vernon Trail, and Four Mile Run Conservancy for a Mega Trash Cleanup event! We’ll be hosting events at four different locations to make an even bigger impact on the Potomac River and nearby trails. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary. Registration is free but required.

Parking Info

Please head to Columbia Island Non-Motorized Launch Dock, where there should be plenty of spaces to be found! The closest parking can be found here, just take a right turn when you drive in the entrance.

You can only access the parking from the south-going lanes of the Parkway, so anyone coming from the north will have to turn around using the roads by the Memorial Ave traffic circle at the end of the Memorial Bridge.

OPTIONAL Kayaking

There will be the opportunity to launch personal kayaks, if participants are interested in cleaning from on the water. We will also have a very limited supply of kayaks for rent. The cost of kayak rental will be to $10/person for the event.

Note: All parties interested in being part of the kayaking component of the event – please reach out to Bill Szymanski, captain of the Trash-Free Boat Brigade, at .

Want to hang on the island for a bit after the event? We recommend checking out Island Time Bar & Grill!
