Mallows Bay is one of only 14 National Marine Sanctuaries, the only sanctuary located in the Chesapeake Bay, and we plan on celebrating that achievement with a one-of-a-kind, guided interpretative paddle with under water archaeologist and expert Adam Wright. We will discuss the unique history, features, and ecology of Mallows Bay along with experts. If the sandy bluffs, bald eagle roosts, and rich wildlife aren’t enough, this paddle also features one of the largest assemblages of historic shipwrecks in the western hemisphere.

Located just 30 miles south of Washington, DC, the historic Bay is situated along the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. Join us in supporting Potomac Riverkeeper and our partners in their efforts to promote “fishable, swimmable” waterways and preserve cultural resources like Mallows Bay for future generations to enjoy.
