Rapid Response

Our Rapid Response program offers community members an opportunity to do more to directly impact the health of our waterways by becoming community watchdogs! Yearly trainings are held which offer volunteers the tools and knowledge needed to spot pollution events and report them to the proper officials. More experienced eyes on the river means more instances of pollution are addressed and remediated as efficiently as possible.

Rapid Response Works!

Check out related posts and success stories around the topic of rapid response and how these efforts are making a difference — thanks, in large part, to our amazing volunteers.

Rapid Response Training

Help us keep an eye out for our river — join the rapid response team.

Each summer, Potomac Riverkeeper Network offers training on the ins and outs of how to spot and report pollution in our waterways! Our participants are trained to be community watchdogs, and leave equipped with the knowledge of how to spot pollution events, how to report them to the proper officials, and become certified through our program to activate our Rapid Response protocol and collect a water sample to run in our lab to test for pollution!

Take Action

Your voice moves regulators and elected officials. Sign up for alerts, report pollution, and help us ensure every community has protections from legacy coal ash.
