World Rivers Day Boat Parade

MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN MORE THAN 100 COUNTRIES PARTICIPATE IN WORLD RIVERS DAY ON THE 4th SUNDAY OF EVERY SEPTEMBER

World Rivers Day is an annual celebration of the world’s waterways. It highlights the many values of our rivers, strives to increase public awareness, and encourages the improved stewardship of all rivers around the world. Rivers in virtually every country face an array of threats, and only through our active involvement can we ensure their health in the years ahead. Boaters and river enthusiasts from marinas and communities throughout the Potomac watershed will come together to make a bold statement on behalf of the Nation’s river.

Annual Boat Parade & Fundraiser

To celebrate the holiday and help support our critical work to protect the public’s right to a cleaner and safer river for all, Potomac Riverkeeper Network holds a boat parade and fundraiser that begins in Old Town Alexandria and ends at The Wharf in Washington, DC.

Participants can register their own boat to join the parade, fundraise as a crew member or teammate on your favorite vessel. You can also give directly as an independent fundraiser for Potomac Riverkeeper Network by gathering donations from your friends and family in honor of our World Rivers Day Boat Parade.

All parade participants and fundraisers are invited to an exclusive after party on Transit Pier following the parade for drinks and live music.
