Earth Day Effort Features Eight Cleanups and Kayak Raffle

Washington, DC – April 16 – A comprehensive schedule to clean up the Shenandoah River and its tributaries during the month of April honors Earth Day, Betsy Nicholas, president of Potomac Riverkeeper Network (PRKN) announced today.

Said Nicholas, “The Shenandoah Valley and its waterways are among the most treasured natural features in America; their beauty attracts millions who support through tourism the economy. Our supporters turn out every year to clean up trash to make the surroundings even more appealing.”

Mark Frondorf, Shenandoah Riverkeeper, said, “We are so fortunate to be supported by so many individuals and like-minded organizations. Their efforts remove a fantastic amount of trash and give a real face and impact to our Trash Free Shenandoah campaign.”Participating volunteers will be eligible to win, thanks to the generosity of Don Roberts, owner of Front Royal Outdoors, a beautiful Old Town 106 kayak with a 45-lb. thrust 12V saltwater-ready trolling motor. The kayak is designed for anglers, birders, photographers, and anyone else wanting to quietly enjoy the river.
