SUMMARY:RiverPalooza: Shenandoah Birdwatching PADDLE
DESCRIPTION:Riverkeeper Boat Photo Credit: Sharon Fisher\n\n\n\nJoin us for a peaceful and picturesque journey down the South Fork of the Shenandoah River\, starting at Andy Guest Shenandoah River State Park and ending at Karo Landing (5+ miles). As we float downstream\, we’ll be joined by expert birders Heather McSharry and Mark Abdy\, Washington County Coordinators for the Maryland Ornithological Society’s Breeding Bird Atlas 3 Project. \n\n\n\nHeather and Mark will help us identify the various songbirds\, waterfowl\, and other feathered creatures we encounter on our journey. We’ve been lucky enough to spot numerous different bird species\, including Wood Ducks with ducklings\, Great Blue and Green Herons\, and even Bald Eagles. We’ll also have the opportunity to glide past a large Great Blue Heron rookery. Last year\, we ran the trip much later in the year due to drought conditions\, so we expect to find a few more migratory song birds in the mix this year. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpace on this trip is limited\, so don’t wait until the last minute to reserve your spot – bring along your binoculars\, and we’ll provide walkie-talkies to help everyone stay in touch and share sightings. And if you have your own walkie-talkie\, be sure to bring it along as well. \n\n\n\nDon’t miss this chance to enjoy a relaxing and informative float down the Shenandoah River with your Shenandoah Riverkeeper and expert birders Heather and Mark. We can’t wait to see you there! \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTRIP DETAILS\n\n\n\n\nArrival Location:Front Royal Outdoors8567 Stonewall Jackson HwyFront Royal\, VA 22630\n\n\n\n\n\nBegin Arrival & Check in: 9:00AM\n\n\n\nShuttle Departs to Put-In: 10:00AM\n\n\n\nEstimated Take-out time: 3:00PM\n\n\n\nPaddle Level: Beginner\n\n\n\nPaddle Distance: 5 Miles\n\n\n\n\n\nBoat Options and Costs:Canoe: $150 (Includes registration for 2)Kayak: $60TandemKayak: $150BYOB: $35\n\n\n\n\nIncluded with each registration: \n\n\n\n\nRiverkeeper Leader\n\n\n\nrental canoe or kayak\n\n\n\nPaddle insurance\n\n\n\nPersonal flotation device for the day (with rental)\n\n\n\nShuttle Service (if applicable)\n\n\n\nRiverPalooza Tee\n\n\n\n\nNote:  Rentals are only available to adults or children 12 years and older who are accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\n\n\nHow to sign up\n\n\n\nwaivers must be signed online (in advance) for you to be registered for this trip.\n\n\n\n1.
