SUMMARY:People Over Data Centers
DESCRIPTION:Photo Credit: Alan Lehman\n\n\n\n\nMark your calendar for “People Over Data Centers” — a one-day conference in Baltimore where you’ll meet people just like you from every corner of the state in search of inspiration\, organizing tools\, legal information\, and networking opportunities in our fight to reform data center development. At this summit\, you’ll learn what people like you are already doing to pause AI data centers where they live. \n\n\n\nYou’ll leave inspired\, informed\, and energized to push for policies that only a massive movement like this one can achieve on data centers. \n\n\n\nPotomac Riverkeeper Network is sponsoring this event and our own Upper Potomac Riverkeeper\, Brent Walls will join the Water\, Land Use\, and Agriculture panel to discuss the potential impacts of data centers on our waterways. \n\n\n\nBaltimore Convention Center1 W Pratt St\, Baltimore\, MD 21201 \n\n\n\n\nLEARN MORE & BUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Oxon Cove Clean-Up w/ Ward 8 Woods & Wake the 8 (Paddling OPTIONAL!)
DESCRIPTION:Join Potomac Riverkeeper Network\, Ward 8 Woods\, and Wake the 8 for a river clean up at Oxon Cove! A great amount of trash flows into Oxon Cove from the rest of the Potomac Watershed\, and one of our long term goals is to work to mitigate the flow of trash from Oxon Run into the Potomac. Come out\, bring a friend\, and spend a couple of hours cleaning up with us! \n\n\n\nPrior to the cleanup event\, VA Master Naturalist\, Ajani Simmons\, will lead us on a plant ID walk in the park\, and Ed Hardy of Wake the 8 will be leading us in a stretching circle to help us prepare to get active! \n\n\n\nWhat to Bring\n\n\n\nWe will have volunteers in their personal kayaks cleaning from the river ahead of the land-based portion of the cleanup\, and some people will be along the water in waders and heavy boots. For those on foot – it should be noted that there is about a mile hike down to the cove. Boots\, long pants\, water bottles\, sunscreen\, bug repellant\, and tetanus shots are strongly encouraged. Hip waders are a plus! \n\n\n\nWe will provide grabbers\, gloves\, hand sanitizer\, trash bags and information about the Potomac River. A larger PRKN boat will be at the cove with safety supplies and a hydration station. \n\n\n\nParking Info\n\n\n\nThe day of\, please park in the Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm parking lot. From there\, we will shuttle down to the cove. \n\n\n\nNote: All parties interested in being part of the kayaking component of the event – please reach out to Bill Szymanski\, captain of the Trash-Free Boat Brigade\, at billszy@gmail.com as logistics will differ slightly. Kayakers will be required to bring their own boat to the event\, and have modified parking instructions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLOCATIONOxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm6411 Oxon Hill Road Oxon Hill\, MD 20745 \n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
